Candied Chicken

About the Recipe


  • 1 fryer chicken, cut into pieces, dredged in flour and browned in a little oil in the bottom of a #10 Dutch oven

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • ¼ cup mustard

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 cup brown sugar

  • ¼ cup onion, diced

  • ¾ cup water

  • 1 teaspoon salt


  1. Dredge chicken pieces through flour and brown in the Dutch oven on the stove-top over medium heat.

  2. Mix the sauce ingredients together.

  3. When chicken has been browned on all sides, remove Dutch oven from stove-top and pour mixed sauce over chicken.

  4. Cover and bake for 1 ½ hours, at 350°F.

  5. Serve over rice.
