About the Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup uncooked long-grain rice
5 cups warm water
2 cinnamon sticks
½ cup sliced almonds (optional)
1 cup of milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/3 cup granulated sugar (to taste)
Ice cubes
Preparation
Rinse rice under cold running water until the water runs clear.
Add the rinsed rice, almonds, cinnamon sticks, and 3 cups of water to a container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, or up to 24 hours.
Put the soaked ingredients into a blender and add the last 2 cups of water. Blend on high until completely smooth.
Strain to remove pulp.
When completely smooth, pour into a large pitcher and add the milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
Serve over ice.
